This site is a swath of the Wayland Historical Society's multi-volume collection of Wayland Woman's Club minutes books. The Club dates back to the Civil War era, when in 1864 a group of thinking men and women formed the Wayland Book Club. Thirty-five years later, the group had evolved into an entirely female organization which renamed itself the Wayland Study Club by 1901. As of WWI, the group became the Wayland Woman's Club, with that name as of 1915, and remained so until its dissolution in the 1980s.
